Invisalign in Cologne: The popular alternative to conventional braces

Many people consider a beautiful smile to be extremely important. Misaligned teeth can therefore impair aesthetics. They can also be detrimental to health.

This is why many people still want a correction in adulthood. However, as conventional braces are often perceived as unattractive, the decision is often difficult.

For this reason, there are aligners (e.g. Invisalign) - the transparent, removable and almost invisible braces for adults. Small to medium corrections can easily be made with aligners in Cologne.

If necessary, you can remove your braces at any time - whether for eating, brushing your teeth or for a photo session. This makes aligners in Cologne the best solution for anyone who doesn't want to wear visible, fixed braces but wants to correct the position of their teeth.

Kieferorthopaede cologne - JUST KFO - Dr. Steinmaier + Kollegen - Digital treatment planning

How does Invisalign work?

1. digital planning with ClinCheck®
Your personal treatment plan (ClinCheck® ) is created using a 3D computer graphics process. The desired end result is simulated and divided into individual treatment phases.

2. individual aligners for each phase
A customized Invisalign aligner is made for each phase, which gently moves the teeth through controlled pressure. Unlike with fixed braces, only specific teeth are corrected in each phase.

3. regular splint changes
The Invisalign aligners are worn for 20-22 hours a day. Approximately every 1-2 weeks you change to the next aligner, which moves your teeth further into the previously calculated position.

4. duration of treatment
Depending on the complexity of the malocclusion, Invisalign treatment lasts between 6 and 18 months.

5. regular check-ups for optimal results
Throughout the therapy, progress is regularly checked in our practice and adjusted if necessary.

Thanks to the precise planning and the gentle, minimally invasive movement Invisalign offers a comfortable, almost invisible alternative to fixed braces.

Can you smoke with clear aligners?

Smoking while wearing aligners is not recommended as it can lead to discoloration and unpleasant odors that may not be completely removed.

Smoking also increases the risk of gingivitis, periodontitis and tooth decay, as it impairs oral health and worsens the blood supply to the gums. If it is not possible to stop smoking completely, the aligners should be removed before smoking and the teeth and aligners should be cleaned thoroughly afterwards to prevent deposits and damage.

Reducing or giving up smoking can have a positive effect on the treatment outcome and general dental health.

Who is Invisalign not suitable for?

Although Invisalign is an effective method of correcting misaligned teeth, there are certain cases where the treatment may not be the best option. Invisalign may reach its limits in cases of very complex misalignments or severe jaw anomalies. In such cases, traditional fixed braces or even orthodontic surgery may be necessary to achieve the desired result. An experienced orthodontist can recommend a customized therapy after a comprehensive diagnosis.

Invisalign treatment also requires discipline and personal responsibility, as the aligners have to be worn for 20-22 hours a day. Patients who have difficulty consistently adhering to this wearing time or ensuring the necessary care may be better advised to wear fixed braces.

The best way to find out whether Invisalign is suitable for your individual situation is to have a personal consultation with an experienced orthodontist. Make an appointment now to discuss your options!

How effective is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a modern and effective method for correcting misaligned teeth. In many cases, Invisalign achieves comparable results to fixed braces, but offers the advantage of almost invisible and comfortable treatment.

Customized, transparent aligners move the teeth step by step into the desired position. Each aligner exerts targeted, gentle pressure and is replaced by the next aligner approximately every two weeks to enable continuous tooth correction.

The success of Invisalign treatment depends largely on the discipline with which the aligners are worn. The aligners must be worn daily 20-22 hours daily to achieve optimum results. Irregular wearing can prolong the duration of treatment or impair success.

Thanks to state-of-the-art technology and precise digital planning, Invisalign enables predictable and gentle tooth correction. You can find out whether this method is suitable for your individual misaligned teeth during a personal consultation.

How many hours a day should I wear Invisalign?

Invisalign recommends wearing the aligners at least 20-22 hours per day to ensure effective tooth correction. The aligners should only be removed for eating, drinking (except water) and teeth cleaning.

By wearing the aligners consistently, the teeth are moved gently and gradually into the desired position. If the recommended wearing time is not adhered to, this can slow down the progress of treatment and prolong the overall duration of therapy.

The optimum wearing time can vary from person to person. An experienced orthodontist can advise you and ensure that you get the best possible results from your Invisalign treatment with your Invisalign treatment.

Which health insurance companies cover Invisalign?

The assumption of costs for an Invisalign treatment depends on the respective health insurance company and the individual insurance contract. As a rule statutory health insurance companies do not cover the costs, as Invisalign is classified as an aesthetic treatment and is usually not considered medically necessary.

However, there are cases in which private health insurance or supplementary insurance subsidies or a partial coverage of the Invisalign costs especially if the malocclusion causes functional problems such as jaw joint problems or severe malocclusion.

It is recommended that you contact your private health insurance or your supplementary dental insurance provider to clarify the individual reimbursement options. An experienced orthodontist can also advise you and explain alternative financing options.

Can you speak well with Invisalign?

Yes, with Invisalign you can usually speak without any problems. The aligners are designed to fit closely to the teeth and hardly affect pronunciation. In the first few days of treatment, however, there may be a slight adjustment phase during which the tongue has to adapt to the new aligners. This phase usually passes within a few days and the ability to speak quickly returns to normal.

It is important to wear the aligners regularly 20-22 hours a day as irregular wearing not only delays the success of treatment, but can also lead to re-acclimatization. An experienced orthodontist can ensure that the aligners are optimally adapted to your teeth to ensure maximum comfort and undisturbed pronunciation.

When do you see the first successes with Invisalign?

The first visible successes of Invisalign treatment can occur at different speeds depending on the type and extent of the malocclusion. As a rule, after just a few weeks few weeks the first changes can be recognized. The decisive factor for progress is consistent wearing of the aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day and compliance with the orthodontist's instructions.

As Invisalign works with precise digital planning, the progress of treatment can be monitored regularly and adjusted if necessary. Visible results can often be seen more quickly, especially with minor malocclusions, while more complex corrections require more time.

In order to achieve the best possible results, it is important to wear the aligners reliably and to change them at regular intervals. Irregular wearing can prolong the duration of treatment and delay success.
